Few places in the world have such a splendid variety of natural beauty as the Annapurna region. It is a rare combination of long arrays of snow-capped peaks, crystal clear lakes, and turbulent rivers with deep gorges, Tibetan monasteries, hot-springs, and picturesque villages; inhabited by the simple and friendly ethnic people of the region.

There are a number of relatively easy short treks that can be undertaken around Pokhara. The area south of Phewa Taal is particularly suitable for this. This area, however, has fewer accommodation facilities so self-sufficiency is generally required. These trekking routes pass through some very attractive rural communities and the low altitude makes for a perfect winter trek, however; it can get uncomfortably hot during the summer months. The trail is also rich in birdlife.

Possibly the most attractive destination for a short and easy camping trek, the Panchase is a 2510 meter high hill located west of Pokhara. The trail follows the ridge that runs through the villages of Bhumdi and Pumdi via World Peace Stupa and provides excellent Mountain Views. Panchace hill has a breathtaking Himalayan Panorama that rivals none other than the one found at the Poon hill. The spectacular views of the Dhaulagiri and Annapurna massif in addition to the area’s most beautiful and sacred mountain- Machhapuchhare (Fishtail) is visible from this hilltop.

Panchase is easily accessible from the village of Bhadaure, which can be reached on foot or vehicle from Naudanda. From Bhadaure it is a pleasant three to four hours walk through the forest to Panchase Deurali where some basic lodging is available. The hilltops are a further hour or so from here. The best season for this trek is from January to May and October to mid December.

Following is a standard itinerary for the Panchase Trek. However, it can also be tailor- made to meet your specific requirements:
Day01: To Pokhara and overnight
Day02: Begin trek to Bhumdi (1825m) and overnight camping. (Takes about 5 -6 hours)
Day03: Continue trek to Bhanjyang (2200m) and overnight camping. (6 hours)
Day04: Trek to Bhadaure and overnight camping. Early morning hike to Panchase Hill for the mountain views and return to camp and trek
Day05: Trek to Kare and drive back to Pokhara
Day06: Return to Kathmandu

Duration of the trek: 6 days (3 nights 4 days + 2 nights in Pokhara)
